IF ONE PANEL GOES OUT, THEY ALL GO OUT – BUSTED!
If one panel goes out, they all go out?

Typically, solar panels are wired in several “strings.” If one panel were to stop working, the rest of the panels in its string would also shut down. So if your array was made of 3 strings, one panel shutting down would mean 1/3 of your panels would go down with it. With 2 strings, half the panels would go down. Arrays using micro inverter technology basically allow each panel its own string, so one panel’s performance would not affect any other’s.

SOLAR PANELS ARE MADE OVERSEAS AND THIS HURTS THE ECONOMY – BUSTED!
Solar panels are made overseas and this hurts the economy?

Today, the solar industry employs more than 100,000 Americans, double the amount in 2009. They work at 5,600 companies, the vast majority being small businesses, in all 50 states. The U.S. solar energy market grew 140% in the third quarter of 2011 over the same quarter last year, making it one of the fastest growing sectors in the economy. Of the $6 billion in direct value created by U.S. solar installations in 2010, more than $4.4 billion, or 75% of the value, accrued to the U.S.

SPECIAL CLEANERS ARE NEEDED FOR SOLAR PANELS – BUSTED!
Special cleaners are needed for solar panels?

There are no special cleaners needed for your solar panels. In almost all cases, rain will suffice to keep them clean. If you live in an agricultural area and your panels become heavily coated in dirt or dust, simply hosing them off will do the trick.

SOLAR PANELS BREAK EASILY – BUSTED!
Solar panels break easily?

Solar panels do not break easily at all. They are framed in high-grade aluminum and covered in shatter-resistant glass. In fact, panels installed in extreme weather climates have been known to survive golf ball-sized hail. Additionally, they are mounted directly to your roof’s sub-structure and will resist extremely high winds.

I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MY PANELS IN BAD WEATHER – BUSTED!
I have to worry about my panels in bad weather?

Solar panels are made from very durable materials. They are framed in high-grade aluminum and are covered in shatter-resistant glass. Most solar panels are rated to survive any kind of weather, including large hail. Additionally, your solar provider will ensure that your system is mounted with consideration for extensive wind load calculations, so you’ll never have to worry about high winds.

  • Harry Simmelink: I agree, but people need to understand that adding Solar to their home is an asset that will increase the actual value of their property if / when they choose to sell. With the environment the way it is going we are unable to ignore any product that offers free energy at no cost to both the buyer and more significantly the earth!
